Happy Friday to ya!
My week started out as a busy one but came to a grinding halt yesterday. Tuesday and Wednesday were mostly spent cleaning, errand running, and re-doing the boy’s bathroom upstairs. Yesterday, with the exception of Johnathan’s dentist appointment, was spent laid up on the couch due to a nasty game of slip and slide that the kitchen floor and I played. The floor won. In retrospect I suppose the whole series of events that transpired in that short time would have appeared almost comical to anyone if they had seen it but I can guarantee you it felt anything but.
I had squared Kaleb away in the car as we were getting ready to head to his school but ran back inside when I realized that I had forgotten my purse. Now, not only do I try to be a neat person but let’s remember that I had just spent the last two days cleaning the house, so, naturally, I wiped my rain burdened shoes before dashing through the house. I suppose one extra slide across the doormat would have been a good idea but unfortunately that thought did not cross my mind until my feet were three feet in the air, above my head. I felt like I was some kind of cartoon character in a slow motion replay as my body began to descend to the unforgiving tile floor. I laid there wanting to scream but couldn’t since the wind had been knocked out of me. Finally… my breath… and my cry. I laid staring at my purse. Darn purse. I needed my phone… another thing I had run back inside for for. It was all the way in my bedroom. Kaleb was still in the car, which was off… and cold. I knew he couldn’t unbuckle his car seat and even if by some miracle he did, I knew he couldn’t open the back door. What if I was laying here forever? What if my child got scared, or cold?
I pushed myself to roll over into a crawling position. Yes people… I crawled to my bedroom. I was out of the cartoon but suddenly found myself in some bad Lifetime type movie. I grabbed my phone but was more determined to prove to myself I could stand up. I did. I took a step forward, then another one, and realized… I can do this… I was going to be ok. Severe pain has continued to haunt me as I expect it will for quite some time. Sitting and laying kills me. Surprisingly, walking feels best. After 56 hours, the rain here has finally ceased so I think Kaleb and I might venture out so that my poor back can get some sort of relief…. and perhaps buy some rain boots.
So… would you like to see the redone bathroom? Don’t get too excited, the sink, toilet, floor, and trim are still the same… horribly outdated. It’s just the theme that has changed. The boys had outgrown rubber duckies and are not yet impressed with “tween” decor. After searching and searching I finally feasted my eyes upon this little cutie…
It was the best compromise I could find and, actually, I was quite pleased with it. I knew I had some Dr. Seuss bulletin board stuff at home that I had used when teaching Pre-K last year that would look super in there. Come to find out.. I can’t find my bulletin board set. What I did still have looks great in there though so I am happy! It’s so hard to get a decent photo of that bathroom because it’s so small so the pictures really don’t do it justice….
Some other fabulous finds you might be interested in (if your a digi scrapper) come from Spotted Dog Designs and The Lily Pad. She has created some truly awesome goodies for you this week!
First of all… check out her new “Make Your Own Calendar” set….
I’m getting started on next year’s calendar ….
Valorie (Spotted Dod Designs) also came out with the most inspiring Thanksgiving kit. I’m not just talking about inspiring in a scrapping sort of way… I’m talking about life. How many of us think about homeless shelters, food pantries, and clothes drives when we’re so busy preparing for our own holiday traditions? Well, perhaps most of you are much better than me but I’ll tell you right now, I’m guilty of getting wrapped up in my own plans. This kit actually made me stop and think… and want to do something. The kit is called “A Day of Giving” and I am simply in awe!
As soon as I saw those cute little soup cans the Campbell’s Soup jingle popped in my head (… you know the one -”there’s so many, many reasons it’s so mmm mmm good”…) and I instantly knew what kind of page I was going to make….
I LOVE the way it turned out!!
So that’s it folks. I just can’t stand to sit here any longer. I’ve got to go walk.

One Response to “Happy Friday to ya!”

Oh Jen, that fall sounds so scary. I can just imagine laying there and knowing the little guy was in the car. I am sorry you are in pain and hope you are feeling tons better. That bathroom is just about the cutest thing I have seen in ages. I might have to copy that for my boys as we often refer to them as Thing 1 and Thing 2.
